Forces crossing the Yangtze River
Description
The Chinese People's Liberation Army led by the Chinese Communist Party launched a large-scale strategic offensive battle from 20 April to June 1949 for the occupation of political and economic center located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. On 21 April 1949, the Chinese People's Liberation Army crossed the Yangtze River, and on 23 April they captured the capital of the Chinese Nationalist Party government, Nanjing. From this point, the Chinese Nationalist Party lost power in the Chinese Civil War.
