东渡黄河
Dōng dù huánghé
Crossing the Yellow River to the east
Description
Attributed to the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War on July 7, 1937, the Chinese Nationalist Party and the Communist Party of China agreed to form a temporary alliance for resisting the Empire of Japan. As a result of the truce between the Chinese Nationalist Party and the Communist Party of China, the Red Army was reorganized into the New Forth Army and the Eighth Route Army. The reorganized Eighth Route Army departed from Shaanxi, crossed the Yellow River, and fought during the Battle of Taiyuan, which was a major battle fought between China and Japan.
